Scott Roeder Trial Verdict - Guilty On Two Counts

Scott Roeder - The Antiabortion Extremist - Found Guilty

Fresh Off The Press: The Scott Roeder Is Guilty!

Scott Roeder, an antiabortion extremist who shot and killed Dr. Roeder was convicted on Jan.

Roeder, 52, sat quietly in a Wichita courtroom as the prosecutor, his defense attorney, a Tiller family representative and one of Roeder's friends argued over whether Roeder -- who killed one of a handful of American late-term abortion physicians -- should be eligible for parole after serving 25 or 50 years of a life sentence. The longer sentence means Roeder will likely die in prison.

Not only did Roeder have no remorse for his crime, said Foulston, but he also "castigated" Tiller's wife, Jeanne, for marrying the wrong man. Roeder has made many such pronouncements in the frequent interviews he has given journalists while in jail.

"Seriously" These Man Is Freakin Dangerous!

"He always held to the same belief that abortion kills a live baby and is a murder of a pre-born," said Frye. "I came to believe that Scott connected himself to the babies being killed in abortion, yet never did I hear him speak about violence toward anyone."

Tiller's longtime attorney, Lee Thompson, spoke for the Tillers, who urged Wilbert to impose the harshest possible sentence on Roeder.

"George Tiller was shot in the face while serving as an usher at his church," said Thompson. "Why? Because he performed constitutionally protected legal medical services for women. It's as morally repugnant as any hate crime." Thompson described Tiller as a dedicated family man who defended the rights of women and believed in the rule of law. Tiller, said Thompson, "practiced medicine as he lived his life, with care and compassion." When one of his daughters became a physician, said Thompson, Tiller advised her to "always touch a patient gently."

Abortion Doctors vs Antiabortion Wackos - The Wackos Win?

Tiller was the fourth abortion doctor and the eighth person connected to an abortion clinic to be murdered for their work since 1993.

Curtis Boyd announced he would begin performing late-term abortions, and said he had hired two California physicians who used to fly into Wichita for rotations at Tiller's clinic. Before he was slain by Roeder, Tiller had been subjected to repeated acts of violence as well as criminal investigations brought by antiabortion government officials. In 1986, his clinic was bombed.

Last year, in the same courthouse where Roeder was sentenced, Tiller was acquitted of charges that he violated Kansas abortion laws. The jury took about 15 minutes to reach its verdict.

Saving Babies By Killing People - Crazy World We Live In!

Roeder, who believed he was "saving babies," wanted to argue that the killing was justifiable homicide and that he was guilty only of voluntary manslaughter. Early in the trial, Judge Wilbert had left open the possibility that he would allow the jury to consider such a defense, but when it came time to instruct jurors, Wilbert said Roeder's actions did not meet the criteria for the lesser offense and would allow them to consider only whether his act was one of premeditated murder. The jury reached its verdict in 37 minutes.
